One hurt in vehicle fire late Sunday in Lakemoor

Investigators are trying to determine what caused a vehicle to ignite Sunday night in Lakemoor, injuring one occupant.

Fox Lake Fire Protection District officials said the vehicle fire was reported just before 9:30 p.m. on the 32000 block of North Darrel Road, near Wagon Trail Road.

The vehicle was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived, officials said.

One person was treated at the scene for burns and then transported via helicopter to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood.

Fire officials said they were told a firework ignited inside the car, causing the blaze. However, the cause remains under investigation.
