One hurt in vehicle fire late Sunday in Lakemoor

Investigators are trying to determine what caused a vehicle to ignite Sunday night in Lakemoor, injuring one occupant.

Fox Lake Fire Protection District officials said the vehicle fire was reported just before 9:30 p.m. on the 32000 block of North Darrell Road, near Wagon Trail Road.

The vehicle was engulfed when firefighters arrived, officials said.

One person was treated at the scene for burns and then taken via helicopter to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Fire officials said they were told a firework ignited inside the car. However, the cause remains under investigation.
