Schaumburg Library announces next two programs in Civic Awareness Series

Schaumburg Library invites the community to explore topics through its Civic Awareness Series, a set of programs designed to encourage thoughtful dialogue, informed decision-making and meaningful community engagement.

All programs are held on Tuesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. at 130 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg and also available to attend virtually.

On March 24, join Tauya Forst, J.D., M.S., and Richard Forst, J.D., Professors of Criminal and Justice Studies from the College of DuPage, as they present a moderated discussion on restorative practices and introduce the broader framework of these practices.

Then, on March 31, Dr. Michael A. Spikes of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism explores our media ecosystem, addresses news media literacy and examines the complexity of professional journalism and the rise of user-generated content. Participants will gain practical tools for evaluating information and building a set of reliable news sources they can return to regularly.

All programs are free and open to adults — registration required. To register and find more, visit schaumburglibrary.org/events.
