Fox Lake firefighters rescue resident from condo fire

One resident was transported to a hospital following a fire Monday morning at a Fox Lake condominium complex.

Firefighters were able to rescue the man after being called to the two-story, six-unit building on the 0-100 block of St. Thomas Colony Street at 7:12 a.m.

The man’s condition is unknown.

Fire officials said smoke was showing from the first floor of a corner unit and a fire inside in the kitchen area was largely under control within 10 minutes.

The fire also caused damage to the building’s electrical equipment, so all six units were rendered uninhabitable for the time being. Though physical fire damage was contained to the unit of origin, fire officials said.

No damage estimate was initially available.
