Crystal Lake church to host annual Spring Cantata March 8

On Sunday, March 8, First Congregational Church of Crystal Lake presents its annual spring cantata, with the theme, “Oh, Jonah!” during the 10 a.m. service at the church sanctuary, 461 Pierson St. It also will be offered online.

The production will feature two of church youth and children’s choirs, from age 3 to eighth grade. Ann Tucker, director of music, directs the cast and choirs. Barbara Thorsen will accompany.

Have a whale of a good time as the story of the prophet Jonah is brought to life with music, dance and merry-making. As they begin their story, there are six angels who are trying to help Jonah understand what God wants him to do. It is a story about how you must not only listen for the word of God in your life but also accept the responsibility that you have to follow through with what we know is right. Come hear the angels who wake up Jonah for God singing “Oh Jonah!”

There will be no Sunday school classes so all children may attend church with their parents to enjoy the presentation in drama and song. Child care will be available for infants and toddlers.

Visitors are welcome. The church is handicapped accessible. For more information, call the church office at (815) 459-6010 or visit fcc-cl.org.
