Northbrook Park District offers noncontact football skills competition for ages 6-14

Next month, the Northbrook Park District will bring back the Youth Punt, Pass and Kick Challenge, a football skills competition for children ages 6-14.

The event on March 8 will give participants the chance to showcase their football abilities in a noncontact environment.

Children will rotate through three skill stations — punting, passing and kicking — where they’ll be scored on both distance and accuracy. No field goal kicking is required, making this event accessible for all skill levels.

Participants will compete within age divisions, and the top performers will receive a prize.

The Youth Punt, Pass and Kick challenge is an opportunity for children to experience football in a fun, supportive and competitive environment, Recreation Supervisor Matt Papale said.

“Even though football can feel intimidating for some, events like this help introduce the sport in a simple and exciting way. Kids get the chance to learn the basics, build confidence and enjoy friendly competition, all without needing to make a big commitment,” Papale said.
