Residents safely evacuated in Woodridge apartment fire

A fire broke out at the Natural Falls Resort Apartment Complex in Woodridge early Wednesday morning.

Several fire districts arrived at the scene at around 2 a.m. after the fire alarm was activated and multiple residents reported flames on the first and second floors.

After the fire was extinguished, crews ventilated the structure and completed salvage and overhaul operations.

The Lisle-Woodridge Fire District says the crews came across significant challenges, including a frozen fire hydrant and below-zero wind chills.

Officials say all residents were safely evacuated, and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
