Thinking about starting a food business? Find answers at the Mount Prospect Public Library
The Mount Prospect Public Library will host a panel discussion for aspiring food entrepreneurs next week.
The program is designed to provide practical insights and encouragement for those considering thinking about starting a new cafe, catering service or cottage business.
It takes place at 7 p.m. Monday in Meeting Room A, Room 154.
The panelists include Meg Dix from Cap's Ice Cream in Mount Prospect, Sue Cortesi of Pendleton Street Treats, a Mount Prospect-based micro-bakery offering artisan sourdough breads, focaccia, specialty treats and desserts, and Carissa Shaffer, one of the owners of Patina Wine Bar in Park Ridge.
“Hearing from somebody with more experience can be very powerful and encouraging,” Business Librarian Angela Baker said.
The discussion will be moderated by Frances Carroll, who offers one-on-one mentoring services at the library.
Bruce Kaplan, another business mentor, will also serve as a panelist.
The discussion will focus on what it takes to launch and grow a successful food business in Mount Prospect, covering such topics as local regulations, permits and health department requirements.
