Teens accused of sexual assault in store restroom

Two Lisle teens face charges alleging they sexually assaulted a female acquaintance in the restroom of a Naperville Walgreens store, authorities said Tuesday.

James Patterson, 17, is charged as an adult with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of robbery, according to the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office.

On Tuesday, a judge ordered that Patterson be detained while awaiting trial.

A 15-year-old boy is charged as a juvenile with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, four counts of child sexual abuse material and one count of criminal sexual assault. He was ordered detained at least until his next court appearance, prosecutors said.

According to the state’s attorney’s office, Naperville police responded at about 3:40 p.m. Sunday to a 911 call reporting a sexual assault had occurred at the store, 713 E. Ogden Ave.

Authorities allege Patterson and the juvenile entered the restroom as their accuser was inside and assaulted her. Prosecutors say Patterson also punched the female repeatedly and took her cellphone.

The juvenile videorecorded the attack, prosecutors allege.

Patterson’s next court date is Feb. 2. The juvenile’s is scheduled back in court Jan. 27.
