Police identify pedestrian killed in Park Ridge crash

Authorities on Sunday identified a 65-year-old woman as the pedestrian killed when struck by a vehicle early Saturday in Park Ridge.

Katherine Baransky of Park Ridge died from injuries suffered in the crash, which occurred about 6:26 a.m. at the intersection of Cumberland and Peterson avenues, Park Ridge police said.

Baransky was taken from the scene to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries, police said.

No charges or citations had been issued as of Sunday, but the crash remains under investigation by the Park Ridge Police Department’s Major Crash Unit.
