District 54 posts vacancy after resignation of its longest-serving board member
Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 has posted a request for applicants to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of its longest-serving board of education member.
Barbara Hengels, who served for 28½ years after starting as an appointee herself, announced her resignation at the December board meeting and it took effect Wednesday.
The board is now seeking to appoint someone within 60 days who would serve until the next election for the seat on April 6, 2027.
Residents interested should go to the district’s website to access the application and upload a resume by 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22. Applicants must also be available to meet with the board for an interview on the evening of Monday, Feb. 9.
