Employee accused of making bomb threat against Westmont business

A Joliet man was ordered held in the DuPage County jail Tuesday on allegations he made a bomb threat against the Westmont business where he worked.

Devan A. Sheard, 32, of the 2800 block of Grand Prairie Drive, is charged with one county of felony disorderly conduct, according to court records.

The charge states he made the threat against the Napleton Porsche dealership’s warehouse at 744 Burr Oak Drive.

According to a prosecutor’s petition to have Sheard detained while awaiting trial, Sheard’s mother called police early Sunday afternoon about a video he had posted on his YouTube channel.

In the 12-minute video, Sheard recorded himself walking around inside the warehouse while talking about trying to decide on which car to put an improvised explosive device.

“If I’m going to go out, I’m going to go out with a bang,” he said at one point.

Westmont police put out an alert to the community while investigating the incident. No bomb was found.

The video was made around 2 a.m., according to the petition, while a half-dozen other workers were at the site.

On Tuesday, DuPage County Judge Anthony Coco ordered Sheard be held in jail while the case is pending. Sheard’s next court date is Jan. 26.
