Man charged in connection to recent Streamwood bomb threat
A Hoffman Estates man was arrested and charged Tuesday in connection with an unfounded bomb threat at a Streamwood Walmart on Dec. 1.
John Abney, 52, was charged with felony disorderly conduct and scheduled to attend a detention hearing Wednesday at the Cook County courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
Police received a report of a bomb threat at the Walmart at 850 S. Barrington Road at 8:17 p.m. Dec. 1. Employees were promptly informed of the situation and the building was evacuated.
No explosive devices were found during a thorough search of the premises with the assistance of the Cook County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Team.
The investigation that followed led to Abney’s arrest, Streamwood police said.
