Head-on crash in Kildeer leaves Mundelein driver dead
A 44-year-old Mundelein man died early Saturday after his car crossed into the opposite lanes and struck another vehicle head on in Kildeer, authorities said.
The two-vehicle crash occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Route 22 between Sanctuary Club Drive and Krueger Road, police said.
A preliminary investigation by Kildeer police determined the driver of a Kia SUV was traveling eastbound on Route 22 before heading into the opposite direction and striking a BMW SUV.
The driver of the Kia sustained fatal injuries. His name was not immediately released by authorities.
The driver of the BMW, a 39-year-old woman from Schaumburg, was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington and is being treated for minor injuries.
“It is too early in the investigation to determine if the driver of the Kia vehicle was impaired or experienced any type of a medical condition,” Police Chief Steve Balinski said.
The crash is being investigated by Kildeer police and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
