Fire in mobile home park near Mount Prospect appears accidental, officials say
A weekend fire at a mobile home park near Mount Prospect remains under investigation but appears to be accidental, officials said.
Mount Prospect firefighters dispatched to the Oasis Manufactured Home Park on Eisenhower Street at approximately 6:28 p.m. Saturday found a fire in the furnace area of a residence.
The fire was brought under control within six minutes of their arrival, officials said. No injuries were reported, and damages are estimated at $70,000.
“This incident is a strong reminder of how critical it is to have working smoke alarms in every home — especially manufactured homes where fires can spread quickly,” Mount Prospect Fire Chief Tom Wang said. “As we head into the colder months, we also encourage residents to have their furnaces and heating equipment professionally inspected and serviced.”
