Hoffman Estates will collect holiday lights for recycling

The village of Hoffman Estates wants to help residents keep non-working holiday lights out of landfills by recycling them for free this season.

The lights can be brought to the special drop boxes at village hall, 1900 Hassell Road in Hoffman Estates, starting Dec. 1.

The holiday light recycling program, made possible through a partnership between the village and the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC), runs through Jan. 30.
