Arlington Heights deaths were a homicide and suicide, authorities say
One of the two men found dead in an Arlington Heights condominium building Friday was fatally shot and the other shot himself, authorities said.
The men were publicly identified Saturday by the Cook County medical examiner’s office as Juan Medina, 53, of Palatine, and Steven M. Weigensberg, also 53, of Naperville.
Weigensberg’s death was ruled a homicide. He was shot multiple times, an autopsy revealed. Medina’s death was deemed a suicide, authorities said.
Their bodies were found in a utility room at the Dana Point complex on the 1500 block of East Central Road. The deaths are under investigation by Arlington Heights police and the Major Case Assistance Team.
Arlington Heights police have been mum about the case since issuing a news release Friday night. Department leaders didn’t respond to interview requests Saturday.
