Man gets 42 years for shooting 2 people in Addison
A man who shot two people in a parked car in Addison was sentenced Wednesday to 42 years in prison, after pleading guilty to attempted murder.
Damian Gonzales, 27, of the 4600 block of South California Avenue in Chicago, also pleaded guilty to aggravated battery with a firearm.
Gonzales was accused of shooting two people around 12:42 p.m. Feb. 16, 2023, in a driveway in the 500 block of South Wisconsin. Authorities said the shooting was gang-related.
The victims were parked in a Jeep SUV. One of them was hit twice. The other was struck 11 times.
Three other men also were charged with attempted murder in the incident. Two of them were acquitted. The third pleaded guilty to mob action.
Gonzales will be required to serve 85% of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
He was given credit for the 2 years and 9 months he has been in jail since his arrest.
