Country House in Geneva closes

After more than 30 years in Geneva, Country House restaurant has closed.

The restaurant at 2095 S. Kirk Road made the announcement on social media late Wednesday night.

“For more than 30 years, you’ve welcomed us into your lives, and we couldn’t be more grateful for your loyalty, friendship, and support,” read the statement signed by Dean Timson. “Our incredible team — both in the kitchen and on the floor — made every visit special, and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.”

The restaurant had been rumored to be for sale, and word about a pending closure had been circulating on social media for about two months.

The Clarendon Hills location, which celebrated 50 years in business last year, remains open at 241 55th St.

“We hope you’ll visit us there so we can continue serving you the same great food and warm hospitality you’ve come to know and love,” Timson said in the post.
