Santa makes late-announced arrival at Woodfield Mall for Christmas season
At short notice Thursday evening, Santa made his traditional arrival parade around Woodfield Mall to usher in the holidays.
The first 200 people on hand to welcome his appearance at the Ice Palace in the Grand Court received commemorative Woodfield Mall tree ornaments.
The parade was accompanied by members of the marching bands from nearby Schaumburg and Conant high schools.
During Santa’s presence at the mall through Christmas Eve, shoppers will also be treated to performances from such other local organizations as the F.E. Peacock Band, Westfield Middle School, Spring Wood Middle School, St. Hubert, Black Willow Brass, Roselle Middle School, BISI Chicago Dance, Clarinet Choir, Palatine High School Orchestra, Marquard Middle School, HOTT Productions and more.
Other holiday happenings at Woodfield include gift-wrapping stations near Starbucks on the lower level, provided by Midwest Beagles Rescue, Education & Welfare and Simon Youth Foundation. The gift-wrapping schedule will be posted on the website at simon.com/mall/woodfield-mall/stream/holiday-gift-wrapping-6269083.
Hours for photos with Santa can be found and reservations made at simon.com/mall/woodfield-mall. There are also two times for pet photos and two specific periods for photos of children with special needs.
