Celebrate National STEM Day at DuPage Children’s Museum
Curiosity is calling! DuPage Children’s Museum in Naperville is inviting families to celebrate National STEM Day on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Explore science, technology, engineering, math — and a splash of art — through hands-on activities that spark imagination and creativity for all ages.
From twisting scarves in the Air Toobz tubes to creating your own inventions with Rig-a-ma-Jig, National STEM Day is packed with playful learning experiences.
Little builders can design cities with Duplo Lego bricks, stack oversized Imagination Playground blocks, or get messy with magnet painting. Music lovers can experiment with unusual instruments, while aspiring engineers can test the power of magnets with washers, nuts, and bolts.
“STEM doesn’t have to be intimidating,” said Areli Morales, community collaboration coordinator. “Even simple activities, like moving a ball through a tube or building a structure with foam blocks, teach kids important problem-solving skills. Hands-on exploration makes learning exciting and shows that curiosity can lead to real discoveries every day.”
STEM is everywhere — from the way things move to the patterns we see and the sounds we create. National STEM Day encourages kids and families to observe, invent, and experiment. Curiosity, creativity, and a playful spirit are all you need to get started!
Bonus STEM Fun: Take home a free mini STEM Kit provided by sponsor Molex, so the learning — and the fun — doesn’t have to end when you leave the museum. Kits will be available one per family while supplies last.
While National STEM Day highlights some extra hands-on activities for the day, DuPage Children’s Museum is always a playground for curious minds. Every corner of the museum is designed to spark exploration, creativity, and problem-solving — whether children are experimenting with water flow, engineering structures, or discovering patterns in art. Families can dive into playful learning, turning ordinary moments into extraordinary discoveries.
It will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum, 301 N. Washington St. in Naperville. The event is included with museum admission. General admission is $22 and children ages 1 or older; $21 for age 59 or older; or free for museum members. Buy tickets online at dupagechildrens.org/admission/ and save a $1.
