Round Lake Heights man charged in connection with Fox Lake shooting

A Round Lake Heights man who was shot in the leg earlier this month in Fox Lake faces felony drug and weapons charges in connection with the situation, police said.

Delorian A. Banks, 30, of the 600 block of Seminole Court, is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Banks was shot twice in the leg Oct. 9 in a residential area on the 300 block of Route 59.

According to police, Banks and an unidentified person were involved in a verbal argument before parting ways. Banks was shot a short time later as he was heading to his vehicle, police said.

Police said numerous items of evidence collected during searches of multiple residences and vehicles, included a firearm and a large amount of narcotics found in Banks' vehicle.

According to police, Banks was arrested Monday at the Fox Lake Police Department after stopping to speak with investigators. He was being held pending a first detention hearing Tuesday.
