Police investigate after bullet found at Rolling Meadows High School

Rolling Meadows High School students were briefly told to remain in their classrooms early Tuesday afternoon after a student discovered a bullet in the building, authorities said.

The student turned in the item to a staff member, and the school was placed in “hold” status to facilitate an investigation by Rolling Meadows Police Department school resource officers and detectives around 12:30 p.m., police said.

No threats were made to students or staff, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

The incident and ensuing investigation prompted an early dismissal of students, while after-school activities were canceled.
