Wauconda house fire causes estimated $250,000 in damage

A house fire in Wauconda Wednesday caused an estimated $250,000 in damage.

The fire was reported at about 6:30 p.m. on the 900 block of Highland Avenue.

Firefighters encountered a blaze in a rear bedroom of the single-family, ranch-style home and extinguished it within 15 minutes of arrival, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported, but the home was left uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but appears accidental in nature, fire officials said.
