Oakbrook Terrace home left uninhabitable after Tuesday night fire
No injuries were reported in an Oakbrook Terrace house fire Tuesday night that left the home uninhabitable.
Firefighters were called to the one-story, single-family house on the 17W200 block of Leahy Road at about 9 p.m.
Flames and smoke were visible from a rear bedroom and a resident had safely escaped before firefighters arrived.
Fire officials said the resident was alerted by a smoke detector.
The house sustained significant fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, authorities said.
