Local film to stream this month

“Girl in the Refrigerator,” the independent film being described as “Seinfeld meets Alfred Hitchcock,” will stream this month on Tubi, Plex, Fawesome and Xumo. The current release date is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 21. It’s also now available to rent on FlixFling.

The film was shot on a micro-budget in the Des Plaines and Mount Prospect area.

“The live audiences have really responded well to our movie,” local screenwriter James Ziolkowski said.

The Dark Comedy tells the tale of a theater manager who accidentally kills his girlfriend and then attempts to remove her body from his busy apartment complex.

The movie takes a detour and pays homage to the great silent films of the 1920s, complete with original music from legendary Chicagoland silent film organist Jay Warren.

“I won’t spoil any surprises, but you will probably see some things and hear some dialogue you haven’t seen or heard anywhere else,” Director J. Francis Juelkuvsky said.

“Girl in the Refrigerator” has enjoyed a successful run on the film festival circuit and premiered to an enthusiastic crowd in Elk Grove Village last year. The film stars local actors Jimmy “Kāsh” Bevetti, Maria Brenda, Jaclyn Francine and Gus Klett.
