Elgin man held on felony drug charges after traffic stop in Fox Lake
An Elgin man was ordered held pending trial on felony drug charges after a recent traffic stop in Fox Lake.
Shane C. Perry, 44, of the 1500 block of Meyer Street is in the Lake County jail pending an Oct. 22 court hearing. He’s charged with possession of cocaine with intent to deliver 15 to 100 grams; possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver 15 to 100 grams; and, separate charges of unlawful possession of cocaine and methamphetamine.
Fox Lake police said an officer smelled the odor of fresh cannabis and saw loose cannabis inside a Honda Accord driven by Perry during a Sept. 30 traffic stop on Rollins Road.
Four plastic bags containing about 16 grams of methamphetamine and 18 grams of cocaine were found on Perry and a plastic bag containing about 18 grams of cannabis, a bottle of THC syrup and a digital scale were found in the car, according to Fox Lake police.
Perry also was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, disobeying a stop sign, unlawful use of cannabis by a driver and operating an uninsured motor vehicle, police said.
A petition for detention submitted by the Lake County state's attorney's office was approved Oct. 1 at first appearance court.
