Gary UMC in Wheaton to host class on Christian nationalism
Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St. in Wheaton, will offer the class, “On Christian Nationalism: A Contemporary Movement Running Through Churches, Government and Society” on Sundays at 10:10 a.m. through Nov. 2.
Gene Green, a New Testament professor emeritus, will lead the class, along with Michael Graves, a biblical studies professor. This study will explore Christian nationalism with Scripture, theology, Christian history and current events.
On Wednesday, Nov. 5, the church will host Christian scholar and best-selling author Matthew D. Taylor for “Christian Nationalism Today: Dangerous Ideas, Dangerous Leaders, and Dangerous Agendas” at 7 p.m.
Taylor is the author of “The Violent Take It By Force: The Christian Movement That Is Threating Our Democracy.” The Nov. 5 event is free, but you need to register at garychurch.org/registrations.
The church has vibrant music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions.
