2 men arrested in multicounty Walgreens theft spree

Wauconda police have arrested two men on felony charges related to a string of retail thefts across Lake, McHenry, Boone, Will and Kane counties.

About 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wauconda police assisted in a coordinated traffic stop involving a vehicle suspected in the thefts.

A white Ford Fusion, which had just been involved in a theft, was found near a Walgreens by Island Lake police. Wauconda police K9 Skye was deployed during the arrest, police said.

Police arrested Donovan White, 30, of the 12000 block of South Page Street in Calumet Park, and Isaiah Garrett, 27, of the 8100 block of South Exchange Avenue in Chicago. During the stop, stolen merchandise from various Walgreens valued at $13,584.99 was recovered, police said.

Several police departments, including Lake in the Hills, Gurnee, Spring Grove, Geneva, Grayslake and Lake Villa have confirmed the men are suspects in numerous thefts at Walgreens locations throughout the region. Additional agencies have indicated pending charges and arrest warrants, authorities said.

The investigation is ongoing and the recovered vehicle is being examined for evidence.

Both men are charged with felony possession of stolen property over $10,000. They appeared in First Appearance Court Wednesday morning.

White is scheduled for a hearing at 9 a.m. Oct. 17.
