Oktoberfest celebration at Naper Settlement: Beer, brats, and live music
Grab your lederhosen and head to Naper Settlement’s annual Oktoberfest on Friday, Oct. 3, from 5-10 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 4, from 3-10 p.m.
Traditional German cuisine and beer will be overflowing in a giant and beautifully decorated tent with a music lineup featuring a mix of lively Oompah music and polka rock on Friday and 1990s hits, country, and polka on Saturday.
On Friday, the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be on site. Visitors can test their strength in a stein holding contest or visit the children’s area with activities for the entire family on Saturday.
Naper Settlement will celebrate the community by offering authentic German cuisine and festival favorites from local restaurants and food trucks, including Belgio’s Catering, Wurst Kitchen, John’s Rib House, Ben’s Pretzels, Decadent Flavor, and Grumpy Gaucho.
Local and traditional beer selections will be available, including Hofbrau Oktoberfest, Spaten Oktoberfest, Alter Festbier, and Schlafly Pumpkin Ale.
The event will also feature a variety of wine, including Z. Alexander Brown Pinot Noir and Schmitt Shone Dry Riesling.
On Friday, Oct. 3, grab a selfie next to the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile from 5 to 10 p.m. There will be music by Ed Wagner’s Lustige Blaskapelle from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the Polkaholics from 8 to 10 p.m.
On Saturday, the children’s area will feature activities by Pinot’s Palette and Chasers Laser Tag from 3 to 7 p.m. The stein holding contest will be 5 to 5:30 p.m.
Freeze Dried will kick off the musical entertainment from 3 to 5 p.m. Then Hillbilly Rockstarz will take the stage from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. followed by Fool House The Ultimate ’90s Dance Party from 8 to 10 p.m.
Each day, all tips collected at the beverage tents benefit a local organization.
