Spring Grove Storytelling and Antioch school partner in ‘A Night with Mary Shelley’

The seventh-grade students at Grass Lake School have been the planners, advertisers and room decorators for a special night with living historian, Megan Wells, as the author of “Frankenstein,” Mary Shelley.

Last spring, the Spring Grove Storytelling group was looking for a space to host this adult evening. After hearing that the students in Jen Lubar’s class were intending on engaging in writing Gothic stories and were curious about how to create a storytelling group, each group came to the table with some skills that embrace Project Based Learning.

A win-win situation emerged. The Spring Grove Storytelling needed space for the presentation and the kids could be on the ground level, creating advertising, flyers, banners, casting a vision for visual space (they are creating a science lab) and being the hosts for the evening with them as the introducers and later getting time with Megan as a mentor for their ghost story writing project.

You are invited to join this special event at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at Grass Lake School Learning Center, 26177 W. Grass Lake Road in Antioch.

Tickets are $25 or $15 for age 12 to 18. This is not a child-friendly event and is recommended for ages 12 or older.

Wells is an award-winning storyteller who performs in museums, symphonies, festivals, as well as performs as an actress, storytelling coach, director and college instructor.

Tickets may be purchased at springgrovestorytelling.org.
