Schaumburg Halloween Carnival, House of Creeps moving into Wintrust Field again
The Schaumburg Boomers baseball team have begun their off-season, allowing a spookier type of fun to take over Wintrust Field and its grounds for three extended weekends in October.
The fourth annual Schaumburg Halloween Carnival — joined for the third time by the “House of Creeps” haunted house — will run on particular days from Friday, Oct. 17, through Saturday, Nov. 1, at 1999 S. Springinsguth Road in Schaumburg.
Entry to the carnival itself is free for all attendees, while parking is $7.
Carnival ride wristbands can be purchased on-site in bundles each day. Unlimited rides are $32 each. Daytime wristbands are good from 1-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday afternoons, while nighttime wristbands are valid from 5-10:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 5-9 p.m. Sundays.
When introduced at Wintrust Field in 2023, the House of Creeps was on the upper suites level of the ballpark at about 1,200 square feet. This year, the haunted house will be on the concourse level at approximately 4,500 square feet.
Tickets for the haunted house, including parking, are $25 per person when purchased in advance online and $30 without parking included at the door. The House of Creeps is for ages 13 and older.
There will be a “Kids Hour” for those under 13 from 2-5 p.m. for $12 each at the early-bird price including parking, so children can experience a less scary version of the haunted house. These tickets may be purchased online.
New this year, the House of Creeps will have “Blackout” experiences on Wednesday, Oct. 29, and Thursday, Oct. 30, in which visitors will walk through with only a glow light to guide them through the spooky atmosphere without actors present.
Those bringing children to the carnival should know that Trick-or-Treat will again be hosted by all vendors each day. Children will be provided with a trick-or-treat monster-lantern bag and can collect goodies from each.
Families are also encouraged to wear costumes and visit the face-painting booth and crafts tent to participate in free “make-and-take” kids crafts such as DIY Halloween mason jar luminarias, coloring books and more.
Foodies can indulge in seasonal treats such as popcorn, cotton candy, caramel apples, corn dogs, hot dogs, polish sausage, nachos and funnel cakes with a variety of toppings.
The carnival is also hosting a bar in the lobby of Wintrust Field, serving beer and seltzers for those 21 and older.
This year’s carnival rides include Matterhorn, Pharaoh’s Fury, OMG 360, Krazy Kabin, Combo cars, a carousel, Rockstar, Tilt-a-Whirl, Luna Wheel, Puppy Roll, Tractor, Zero Gravity, Sizzler, Kite Flyer, Dragon Wagon, Sky Rider and Motorcycle Jump.
Though most of the weekends will be Friday through Sunday, the carnival will also be open from 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30.
