Dogs rescued from Schaumburg house fire
Two dogs were safely rescued by firefighters during a Schaumburg house fire early Monday after other residents were able to escape on their own.
The Schaumburg Fire Department received the call to the house on the 1400 block of Chartwell Road at 1:55 a.m. Crews arrived at 2:01 a.m. and had the fire under control at 2:22 a.m.
Though the fire appeared to begin in the garage, about 75% of the house was ultimately affected, resulting in a damage estimate of $600,000, officials said.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Tuesday.
