D128 board member, former president Lisa Hessel resigns

Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128 school board member Lisa Hessel has resigned for personal reasons effective Monday.

The Vernon Hills resident was appointed to fill a vacancy in 2018 and elected to four-year terms in 2019 and 2023. She served as board president from 2021 to 2024, including a tumultuous time that led to the departure of former Superintendent Denise Herrmann in August 2024.

Information on the process to fill the vacancy will be forthcoming, according to the district.
