‘It’s really pretty’: Heinen’s grocery store opens in Naperville
A sign in the meat department of the new Heinen’s grocery store in Naperville introduces customers to its namesake founder. Joe Heinen started the business as a butcher shop in Depression-era Ohio under the belief that you have to “find the best to sell the best.” The 46,000-square-foot store opened Wednesday with a packed parking lot, fall mums and pumpkins at the entrance and new fans. “I love it. It's really pretty, and they have a really good selection of produce, especially,” Naperville mom Danielle Ethier said.
Indian restaurant Indiyaana to be next occupant of Schaumburg banquet hall on American Lane
An Indian restaurant named Indiyaana is slated for a November opening at a Schaumburg dining spot that has housed four other restaurants over the past two decades. The 22,000-square-foot restaurant and banquet hall at 1301 American Lane just west of Woodfield Mall and Meacham Road first opened in 2006 as Entourage.
‘Much-needed relief’: Gurnee board approves 40-unit workforce housing plan
Opportunities for low- to moderate-income renters seeking a place in Gurnee will be expanding with approval this week of a 40-unit “workforce housing” apartment development. The village board Monday unanimously approved zoning and density variations to allow for Liberty Point Residences to be built on 2.2 acres east of Route 21 near the Tri-State Tollway.

One of Chicago’s most noted restaurants — avec — is opening its first suburban location this spring. The restaurant, part of One Off Hospitality, will open at 250 Waukegan Ave. in Highwood. This will be the third location for avec, which opened in the West Loop in 2003 and expanded to River North in 2021.
