Conscious Cup to host open house Sept. 20
Conscious Cup Coffee Roasters will host an open house, featuring a raffle for a home espresso machine valued at $1,620, from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at its Coffee Roasting Works, 110 W. Woodstock St., Crystal Lake.
They are opening the doors of the roasting operation for an afternoon of coffee, food off the grill, and great company.
“We are excited to invite the friends we’ve made over these past 19 years,” said co-owner Michael Shipley. “It’s a great opportunity for people to see the inner workings of specialty coffee and see how we source, sample, roast, and serve all these unique coffees.”
The open house will feature a roasting demonstration led by Conscious Cup’s expert roaster, Dennis Jackson. Jackson is a former board member of the Specialty Coffee Association and Roasters Guild and has visited coffee farms around the world, including as a judge in prestigious Cup of Excellence auctions. Other activities include coffee brewing demonstrations and coffee tasting. We’ll be cupping coffee to explore the unique and varied flavors of specialty coffee and demonstrate different home coffee brewing methods, as well as take you through the production kitchen, where Conscious Cup prepares scratch-made syrups, chai, confections, and tests seasonal syrups and sauces.
A raffle will be held at 4 p.m. (winner must be present). Raffle prizes include:

Two prizes for one-year subscriptions for two 12-ounce bags of Conscious Cup Coffee shipped monthly to your door.
