Indian restaurant Indiyaana to be next occupant of Schaumburg banquet hall on American Lane

An Indian restaurant named Indiyaana is slated for a November opening at a Schaumburg dining spot that has housed four other restaurants over the past two decades.

The 22,000-square-foot restaurant and banquet hall at 1301 American Lane just west of Woodfield Mall and Meacham Road first opened in 2006 as Entourage.

Since then, it’s been David Burke’s Grillhouse, The Clubhouse, and was most recently divided between the co-owned Schaumburg Indian Grill and Schaumburg Banquet until both closed in February 2024.

But Schaumburg Economic Development Director Matt Frank said the team behind Indiyaana, who received their special-use permit from the village Tuesday, bring a level of experience that inspires confidence for longevity at the site.

Owner Sivakumar Rajarathinam has been in the restaurant business in Wisconsin for a decade and in hospitality management for more than 15 years.

Jesu Santiagu Lambert has been brought in from India, where he has 25 years experience in the restaurant industry, to be executive chef.

The menu is expected to include dishes from multiple regions of India featuring both traditional and modern influences.

The anticipated 27 employees will include those involved with daily operations, events and marketing.

The existing banquet hall on the second floor has its own separate kitchen and is planned to be used for corporate gatherings and special events like weddings and conferences.

The new management will also address code issues involving the property’s parking lot and landscaping, village official said.

While solely used as a restaurant in the past, a new special-use permit was necessary because it’s been unused for more than a year, Frank said.
