Drury Lane Theatre announces its 2026-2027 season lineup
Drury Lane Theatre announced Friday its first revival in 20 years of the family-favorite “Annie” as the penultimate show of its 2026-2027 season. The tuner about a plucky orphan and the people whose lives she changes will run Nov. 4, 2026, through Jan. 10, 2027.
The Oakbrook Terrace theater commences its main stage season with “Father of the Bride” (April 8-May 31, 2006), the 1951 comedy about a father preparing for his daughter’s wedding and the misadventures that ensue. Adapted by Caroline Francke from the 1949 novel by Edward Streeter that also inspired Vincent Minnelli’s 1950 comedy starring Spencer Tracy and Elizabeth Taylor and the 1991 remake starring Steve Martin.
That’s followed by a revival of the musical “Nunsense” (June 10-Aug. 2, 2026), about a group of Hoboken, New Jersey, nuns trying to raise money to help bury four of their sisters who died from a botulism-related cooking incident.
Next up is “Buddy — The Buddy Holly Story” (Aug. 19-Oct. 11, 2026), a jukebox tuner about the too-short life of the rock ‘n’ roll pioneer who died in a plane crash at age 22.
The season concludes with Dolly Parton’s tuner “9 to 5” (Jan. 27-March 21, 2027), inspired by the 1980 movie starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Parton as unlikely workplace friends who concoct a plan to get even with their sexist, egotistical, hypocritical bigot of a boss.
Performances take place at 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace. Season memberships range from $254 to $285. Group tickets start at $45 and student tickets start at $35. See drurylanetheatre.com.
