See a map of safe houses on the Underground Railroad at Sept. 12 program

Step into the past and immerse yourselves into the story of a safe house owner in Illinois during “Explore the Underground Railroad” with historian and actor Terry Lynch.

Learn how these houses played a critical role as a refuge for slaves to rest and regain their strength before continuing their journey to Canada. Discover the significance of several safe houses in the Chicago area and their contribution to the Underground Railroad. A map is shown so everyone can know where the safe houses were located.

This program will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn.
