Experience 1840s life at Glen Ellyn’s 40th annual Pioneer Day

The Glen Ellyn Historical Society is hosting the 40th annual Pioneer Day on Sunday, Sept. 28. It will be 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the history center, 800 N. Main St. in Glen Ellyn.

Farm animals are ready to say hello, Civil War reenactors have stories to tell, artists are there to draw family pictures and print in the ancient but beautiful style of the day, candle making goes on, even school is in session. There is no admission charge.

Along with the farm animals, there is craft making for kids, candle making, corn shelling, apple peeling, pioneer games and toys; learn how to do laundry 1840s style, tour Stacy’s Tavern and more.
