Fox River Grove offers storm damage updates, cleanup efforts ongoing
The village of Fox River Grove is sharing information related to its response to the severe storms that occurred on Aug. 16 and 17, 2025. These storms caused community wide power outages, as well as damage to trees, homes, and vehicles. Nearly all power was out in the community at one point, but the village is now nearing full restoration of power.
While village crews and contractors are actively responding to storm damage requests for damaged and down trees, the response effort may take several weeks to complete due to the extent of the damage. Should residents see parkway trees or limbs that appear to be damaged to a point that they might fall, they are encouraged to submit a request for service on the village website, or call the village.
In addition to the standard monthly collection, village crews will be collecting branches associated with the storm over the course of the next several weeks. In order to be chipped, material must be larger than 1½ inch diameter, no larger than 5 inch in diameter, be no less than 4 feet in length, no more than 10 feet in length, and contain no stumps or roots.
Materials to be chipped must be placed in parkway with cut ends facing the road or direction of traffic flow. Please note, property owners hiring a contractor to complete tree trimming and tree removal are responsible for the disposal of all materials generated. The village will not dispose of trees removed by a contractor.
Residents are additionally requested to help keep storm drains clear. Those that are blocked by leaves or other debris prevent storm drains from working at peak efficiency.
