Wheaton offering financial assistance to seniors

The city of Wheaton is accepting applications for a program that provides monthly financial assistance to eligible senior residents.

Applications will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 19.

To qualify for the Wheaton Senior Assistance Program, seniors must be at least 65 years old; be a current incorporated Wheaton resident for at least the last consecutive three years; must reside in the residence for nine-plus months of the year; have an annual household income that does not exceed $33,950 and agree to an in-person interview at the residence.

People who are receiving Section 8 or DuPage Housing Authority assistance are also not eligible to apply.
