International Festival brings music, dance and food from around the world to Wheeling

Wheeling celebrated one of their last big events of summer Sunday with the International Festival at the Performance Pavilion at Heritage Park.

The event featured 11 performances by local and regional musical and dance groups, including the Samba 1 Brazilian Dance Group, the Martin Metzger Flemenco Ensemble, Bulgarica, Alegria Mexicana and the Junior Klezmer Orchestra.

The family-friendly celebration also featured food trucks, inflatables and interactive activity booths.

Juan Acevedo, superintendent of marketing for the Wheeling Park District, said they’ve been holding the event for about five years.

“We’re always excited about this event and being able to celebrated the diversity of our community,” he said.
