Transit town hall set for Aug. 11 in Vernon Hills

Illinois Sens. Adriane Johnson of Buffalo Grove and Mary Edly-Allen of Libertyville will host a town-hall meeting in Vernon Hills on Monday, Aug. 11, to share updates about the state of transit in Illinois.

Lake County Board Chair Sandy Hart and state Sen. Ram Villivalam, chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, also will take part.

The event comes as transit agencies in the Chicago region face a $771 million fiscal cliff as federal pandemic relief funding runs out. Unless state lawmakers come up with a solution, rides will face service cuts and limited transportation options.

The town hall is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Sullivan Community Center — Walnut Room, 635 N. Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills.
