Gary UMC in Wheaton offers ‘Backpack Blessing’

School starts soon, so bring your backpack for a blessing to Gary United Methodist Church in Wheaton on Sunday, Aug. 10 during 9 a.m. worship.

Students of all ages are welcome to bring their backpacks either empty or filled with school supplies. The church also collects school supplies for various nonprofits each year.

The church at 224 N. Main St., has music, kids, youth and adult ministries, plus opportunities for local, national and global missions. This summer, worship at 9 a.m. includes Kids’ Church. At 10 a.m. there’s a coffee fellowship hour, plus the chapel is available for prayer and reflection.

On Sunday, Aug. 17 at 10 a.m., the church will worship outside at Memorial Park, 225 Karlskoga Ave. Starting Sunday, Sept. 7, the church will restart its second service at 11:11 a.m., along with Sunday school for all ages between services.
