One hurt in Mount Prospect apartment fire

One person suffered minor injuries in an apartment fire late Sunday in Mount Prospect that left all 12 units in the building uninhabitable.

The fire at the three-story building on the 1700 block of Forest Cove Drive was reported just after 11:30 p.m.

The fire was contained to the unit of origin and took about 15 minutes to bring under control, fire officials said.

One resident was taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

The fire is under investigation but appears to be accidental. Damage estimates were $150,000, fire officials said.

“This fire could have been significantly worse if not for the quick action of tenants evacuating and the prompt notification to 911,” Deputy Chief Tom Wang said.
