Glendale Heights teen charged with possessing ghost gun

A Glendale Heights teenager has been charged with possessing a high-capacity ghost gun.

The 16-year-old boy is charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, a felony, and misdemeanor resisting or obstructing a peace officer.

DuPage County Judge Kishori Tank ordered Monday that he be detained until his next court appearance.

According to a news release from the DuPage County state’s attorney’s office, police responded on Sunday to investigate a report of four people painting graffiti near the 500 block of Sidney Avenue.

The suspects ran off through residential backyards. The 16-year-old was detained shortly thereafter. Officers searched the path he took, and found what appeared to be a three-dimensional printed gun, with a loaded 50-round drum magazine.

Officers believe the boy threw the gun into a yard.

The boy was out on court supervision on driving without a valid license.

His next court date is July 28.
