Pedestrian struck by car in unincorporated Round Lake
A 67-year-old pedestrian from unincorporated Round Lake suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after he was struck late Friday by a car driven by a 22-year-old Wauconda woman.
Lake County Sheriff’s deputies continue to investigate the vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash that occurred about 9:10 p.m. Friday in the vicinity of Fairfield and Nippersink roads in unincorporated Round Lake.
Officers arrived and found the man injured in the roadway, according to a Lake County sheriff’s department spokesman.
The preliminary investigation shows the woman was driving a 2007 Nissan Versa and traveling southbound on Fairfield Road near Nippersink Road when she struck the man, who appears to have been crossing Fairfield Road.
The area is unlit and the man was not crossing in a crosswalk, according to the spokesman. Nor was the man wearing reflective or contrasting clothing.
The man was taken to an area hospital. The driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation.
