Grand reopening celebration for Meadowhill Aquatic Center in Northbrook June 27
The Northbrook Park District is excited to celebrate the renovation of Meadowhill Aquatic Center with a grand reopening and ribbon-cutting celebration from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 27.
The public is invited to explore the beautifully upgraded facility at 1501 Maple Ave. in Northbrook and connect with the park district’s board of commissioners, staff members and local legislators.
The project’s exterior improvements included the effective doubling of shaded areas on the pool deck, refreshed locker rooms with two new family changing rooms, and a new lobby configuration with direct access to the pool area. It also featured extensive upgrades to the mechanical equipment that pumps, filters and circulates the pool water.
The construction project began in August 2024 after the pool closed for the regular season. Funding included a $600,000 Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
Meadowhill Aquatic Center reopened last week with regular hours. The facility’s amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, diving boards, lap lanes, water slides and a zero-depth children’s play area with a spruced-up Wally, the blue whale, whose new name was chosen by the community last month.
