Local social worker joins Land Conservancy board
The Land Conservancy of McHenry County welcomes Sebastian Morales to its board of directors.
Morales is a social worker and mental health therapist with over four years of experience providing services to youth and adult clients in McHenry County. He holds a bachelor’s degree in social work from Northeastern Illinois University and a master’s degree from the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy and Practice at the University of Chicago.
Originally from Chicago, Morales has lived in McHenry County for nearly 10 years and has a deep love for the natural beauty of the landscapes, cornfields, ponds, lakes and streams that McHenry County is blessed with.
Though he often works from an office, Morales loves to spend time fishing (no matter the weather), hiking or cruising down the scenic routes of the county. He was interested in joining the board of the Land Conservancy of McHenry County because he wants to ensure these attributes of the county’s natural splendor are preserved for others to enjoy, years into the future.
Board president Karen Lavin, said, “We are pleased to have Sebastian join our board. With a master’s degree in social work and his experience in providing mental health services, he brings an especially keen appreciation of how nature helps our mental state. His experience brings a unique perspective to the table. I look forward to working with him.”
