Glen Ellyn Vintage Auto Fest celebrates 10 years

Twenty-seven vintage and antique automobiles and their owners took part in the Glen Ellyn Historical Society’s 10th annual Vintage Auto Fest on Saturday, June 7, at Stacy’s Historical Corners.

Over 220 visitors attended this event. Along with the auto show, Barbara J. Barrett, a history entertainment speaker, presented a free program in the Glen Ellyn History Center. Her program was titled “Chicago’s Historic Motor Row District 1905-1936.”

The Chicago Historic Motor Row District is the home to the largest, intact, early “motor colony” in the United States and was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2002. At its peak, as many as 116 different takes of automobiles were sold and serviced on Motor Row.

The crowds did not have to go hungry at the show. Heavenly Hot Dogs’s Food Wagon from Glen Ellyn was on the grounds serving delicious hot dogs.

Stacy’s Tavern Museum was open for limited tours because of summer construction. Executive Director Jeff Anderson thanks all the historical society volunteers and the Glen Ellyn Rotary Club and staff.
